Within our Caltrans Districts 9 & 10 On-Call Construction Management contract, NV5 provided staff augmentation to Caltrans, including Structures Representative and Structures Inspection, for this $20 million highway improvement project on Route 580 from San Joaquin County Line to West of Grant Line Road and Route 205 from Midway Road to California Aqueduct Bridge. The project entailed construction of a new freeway connector, the Truck Bypass, which consists of a 375-meter, two-frame, seven-bay concrete box girder bridge. Foundation construction consisted of a combination of steel H-piles and dry and wet CIDH piles. This project included overhead sign structure removal and installation. NV5’s services included reviewing falsework, bridge construction survey, reviewing guying systems and welding submittals, providing bridge deck grades, abutments and column pour grades, sampling fresh PCC and material submittals, preparing daily reports, project correspondence, photo log, and tracking of bid item quantities, as well as inspection of all aspects of bridge work, traffic staging, and public safety.
