Brett Rosenberg (in photo, second row left) and Mike Stabin (not pictured) of the Richland, Washington, office are volunteering their time and expertise on a team with other Hanford Site radiation safety specialists to support the U.S. Department of Energy’s need for experts in the niche specialty field of health physics. Specifically, the team has developed an accredited undergraduate Bachelor of Applied Science program in Health Physics at Columbia Basin College that is scheduled to open this fall, and a graduate program is in the works for Washington State University Tri-Cities to further develop a pipeline of future Hanford employees. Additionally, we worked with the local chapter of the Health Physics Society to help prepare seven Hanford Site health physicists for the challenging exam to become Certified Health Physicists.
