NV5 Supporting Charlie’s Heart with a 5k

By: Vikki Keafer, Cary Office

The NV5/CALYX offices in Cary, Charlotte, and Roswell held their annual 5k walk/run on October 10. Participants from each office laced up their shoes and set out on a perfect sunny afternoon to get some exercise and support Charlie’s Heart Foundation. This is the third year that we have dedicated the race to Charlie’s Heart Foundation. Together, our employees donated $2,322 to the foundation this year.

About Charlie’s Heart

Charlie’s Heart was founded by one of our employees and his family after the tragic loss of their son, Charlie. Here is a little more about what the foundation is doing and the impact that they are having…

Charlie’s Heart Foundation (CHF) is committed to keeping families together and thriving. We have had an exciting 2019 and are looking forward to an even better 2020 as we spread sunshine to families and children living in poverty. CHF partners with other non-profits, aligned specifically with our mission to create greater impact by boosting the great work they are already doing in areas of high need.

This year, CHF funded the construction of a well in the Amhara region of Ethiopia through “A Glimmer of Hope,” which serves 250 families in the community of Gondar. The well provides clean water not only to residents but also to the children attending the nearby school.

We have also poured into “Addis Jemari’s Family Empowerment Program,” which officially launched in March 2019. The program comes alongside 50 Ethiopian families, 37 of which are female heads-of-household, to provide job-skills training, healthcare, financial literacy, and support in order to help these families rise up out of poverty.

Charlie’s Heart Foundation’s goal is to invest in people so they can invest in themselves to create a brighter tomorrow. We hope, through the generosity of our donors, that 2020 will allow us to bring on a new partner, thus strengthening our area of impact and investing in more lives!
