NV5’s Laura Bonich Named National Technical Committee Chair for ISI ENVISION

NV5’s Laura Bonich, PE, LEED AP, was recently named Chair of the National Technical Committee for the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure’s ENVISION rating system. NV5 is a charter member of ISI and contributed to the funding for the development of the ENVISION rating system.

The Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI) is a not for profit organization, structured to develop and maintain a sustainability rating system for civil infrastructure. That system, called Envision®, is a collaboration between ISI in Washington. D.C., and the Zofnass Program for Sustainable Infrastructure at the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts. ISI was founded by the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC), the American Public Works Association (APWA), and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).

Envision® provides a holistic framework for evaluating and rating the community, environmental, and economic benefits of all types and sizes of infrastructure projects. It evaluates, grades, and gives recognition to infrastructure projects that use transformational, collaborative approaches to assess the sustainability indicators over the course of the project’s life cycle.

Laura Bonich, PE, LEED AP has worked for NV5 since 1994 and has almost 30 years of experience in the design of infrastructure. She leads the sustainable design practice for the firm and the business development efforts for the infrastructure vertical. Laura provides strategic approaches to all aspects of infrastructure master planning with emphasis on the use of sustainable best practices to optimize and reduce the cost of infrastructure rather than a traditional code compliance design approach. Laura has significant experience with the ENVISION rating system and with the USGBC LEED certification process in particular with LEED for Neighborhood Development. Laura also has an MBA, is a member of the Sustainable Infrastructure Advisory Board at the Harvard Graduate School of Design, a full member of the Urban Land Institute (Community Development Council) and a past branch President of the American Society of Civil Engineers.

Please join us as we congratulate Laura.
