We’re at Cal GIS LocationCon 2017

Here we are in Oakland for Cal GIS LocationCon ’17, running from May 22-24th! We can’t wait to learn more about some of the latest GIS within California, especially presentations by WRA, USGS, and California Department of Water Resources’ Hydrography Dataset Program. BART’s presentation on eGIS Online Viewer and Cyclomedia’s work with hi-res street level imagery with built-in GIS capabilities are also on our must-see list.
We’re looking forward to sharing some of our own insights and innovations, including our LiDAR acquisition and analysis, topobathy LiDAR, and eGIS solutions including inSITE our data platform and work management system, plus our 3D visualizations. Visit our booth to learn more, and join us for a demo of downtown San Francisco in high-density LiDAR point cloud at Tuesday’s social- starts at 5:30 followed by a Grand Ave pub crawl where Quantum Spatial team will challenge GIS-ers to a game of indoor bocce ball at Make Westing.
Quantum Spatial is the industry leader when it comes to topobathy LiDAR. Learn about this amazing sensor platform and the incredible opportunities its data provide.  Colin Cooper, LiDAR specialist and topobathy expert presents on Wednesday, May 24th at 10:30am.
Airborne topo-bathymetric (or green wavelength) LiDAR continues to develop as a unique tool for mapping shallow water environments.  Over the past two years a new generation of topo-bathymetric LiDAR sensors has entered the commercial market that offers increased functionality and expanded performance capabilities.  Quantum spatial, Inc. (QSI) has deployed this technology for a variety of clients and applications throughout North America.  In coastal near-shore environments, these data provide extremely valuable information for navigation safety, inundation modeling, and other coastal zone management applications.  In riverine environments, analysis of these data helps our understanding of river channel morphology, benthic habitat, and riparian condition.   In this presentation, we will provide an overview of sensor characteristics and performance as well as lessons learned from deploying these sensors for shallow water mapping projects.
