Having been called “one of the best film schools in the country” by Steven Spielberg himself, Valencia College fosters excellence in entertainment through its latest addition to campus. The brand new School of Arts & Entertainment building provides state-of-the-art learning environments that emulate real-world media production technologies.
Audiovisual systems are the heartbeat of this building. Equipment was carefully chosen in order to give the College an advantage over their competition and to be used as not only a teaching tool but as a recruitment tool. The facility features multiple recording studios all capable of Dolby Atmos 7.2.4 surround sound, a screening theater featuring Dolby Atmos and 4k Projection, and a Dub Stage capable of producing and mixing for Dolby Atmos Cinema and a sound stage. All studios are interconnected via networked Dante Audio.
The 2,500 SF Sound Stage includes an LED lighting system, a green screen area, and opportunities for single camera set-ups as well as motion-capture/match-moving. Alternatively, it can be used as a sound recording location for large musical sessions. The stage also is flanked by wardrobe, makeup, dressing, and prop rooms.
In the Large Recording Studio and Control Room, students can record small orchestras and bands. Central cabling enables control rooms throughout the building to access sound produced in this space. The studio also includes a cue system and isolated drum and vocal booths.
Film and music students now also have access to Foley sound effects studio, 25-seat film electronic large edit room, medium recording studio holding up to 25 participants for ensembles and bands, a six-person recording studio, shared audio/MIDI Classrooms.
