To improve the educational experience, the newly renovated Grandview Heights High School allows students and teachers to embrace technology in and out of the classroom.
Within the classroom environment, students and teachers can use touch screen flat panel displays or projectors for lessons, wireless network (LAN) for learning-based Bring-Your-Own-Device usage, computer access for project research, and much more.
The library and media center give students areas to study and collaborate outside of the typical classroom setting. Students can work independently or collaborate in small group spaces using technology as a learning resource.
Teachers have the option to use wired or wireless connection to the network as well as the ability to link devices to projection systems and touch screen flat panel displays. Students also have multiple wireless access points for optimal internet access for smart devices.
One of the most important aspects of any school is the safety of students and faculty. Card readers are installed on doors for faculty access only. Visitors can only enter through the main office where their credentials are checked before entering the building. School-wide video surveillance is stored in the cloud and accessible to faculty.
Acoustic treatments are implemented building-wide with special care given to the music classrooms. Band and choir rooms were remodeled based on the anticipated volume of sound and renovations were made for a pleasant playing, singing, and listening experience. Sound isolation in these spaces prevent auditory bleed-off into neighboring classrooms.
