NV5 is supporting Genentech’s Oceanside facility with on-call technical and regulatory support. The Genentech campus spans 60 acres and includes a multi-product, biotech manufacturing, and clinical operations complex with six buildings totaling 500,000 square feet. NV5 provides environmental support and industrial general permit training, inspections, monitoring data review and quality control, data uploads to Storm Water Multiple Application and Report Tracking System (SMARTS), Best Management Practices (BMP) recommendations, and annual reporting. Other tasks include the following:
- Providing a water scarcity analysis using the Global Environmental Monitoring Initiative’s Local Water Tool to assess water demand and projections within the City of Oceanside, County of San Diego, and Southern California. The study was performed at the request of Genentech’s parent company Roche due to water assessment risks during the severe drought of 2014-2015.
- Hydromodification assessments to address a significant solar installation on an undeveloped portion of the property. The assessment included using the County of San Diego’s Hydromodification Assessment and Water Quality Management planning tools and the preparation of a Storm Water Mitigation Plan in accordance with the City of Oceanside’s development planning requirements. NV5 also provided regulatory reviews and research to address safer alternatives for weed control within the solar panel installation fields.
- Development of an erosion control plan and mitigation recommendations for the Bloom Fuel Cell Installation Project.
