NV5 prepared an Indian Health Service environmental assessment and biological report for water system improvements at Picuris Pueblo. The reports were completed on a tight schedule. Fieldwork was completed prior to COVID-19 lockdowns, allowing the project to meet deadline requirements. Proposed improvements included new waterlines, tank, and pump house. The need for water infrastructure improvements was based on the age and condition of the existing water infrastructure. Much of the infrastructure was at the end of its serviceable life. New distribution piping was needed to meet American Water Works Association standards. NV5 coordinated with Picuris Pueblo, conducted a project area reconnaissance survey, and conducted a pedestrian biological field survey. Biological findings were documented in the biological report. Project purpose, need, alternatives, existing environmental conditions, and environmental impacts were described in the environmental assessment. The Indian Health Service issued a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI).
