Public Service Company of New Mexico BB2 Transmission Line Project

NV5 provided a full suite of environmental services to Public Service Company of New Mexico (PNM) or the BB2 Transmission Line project. The project provided a link with wind farms in central New Mexico, which connected renewable energy production with customers.

NV5 conducted biological and cultural resource surveys for the PNM BB2, a 45-mile-long transmission line project in Sandoval and Santa Fe counties. Detailed surveys were conducted for the grey vireo to minimize impacts to this protected species. Archaeological site boundaries were mapped to plan for construction avoidance. NV5 presented survey results in biological and cultural resource reports. Data was collected and impacts were evaluated for geology, soils, water, wetlands, vegetation, wildlife, threatened and endangered species, noise, air quality, visual resources, communities, land use, socioeconomics, environmental justice, hazardous materials, electromagnetic fields, and cumulative impacts. NV5 also prepared an Environmental Analysis Report and provided expert testimony before the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission. As part of the mitigation efforts, NV5 developed a revegetation plan.
