Projects

Public Service Company of New Mexico CZ and WW Transmission Line Project

Public Service Company of New Mexico needed to replace aging wood transmission structures with new steel structures on the CZ and WW 345 kV transmission lines. The purpose for conducting biological investigations was to identify potential biological resource constraints prior to initiating maintenance and construction activities. NV5 conducted resource evaluations that included the type, extent and composition of vegetation and wildlife; the potential habitat for Bureau of Land Management sensitive species, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service threatened or endangered species, Navajo Nation endangered species; and state listed plants and animals in the project area.  Simultaneously, important migratory bird habitat was identified and all nests in the project area were mapped. Water resources were also evaluated for any potential jurisdictional waterways or wetlands to determine if delineations of any areas would be required prior to maintenance and construction activities.
