Academy for Creative Media

Designed to engage, educate, and prepare students for work in the creative industry, the new Academy for Creative Media (ACM) prepares students for professional positions in a wide variety of media industries, including video game design and development, interactive design, motion and visual graphics, transmedia film, TV production and news media.

The facility includes numerous creative media production spaces, flexible active learning classrooms, computer laboratories, meeting rooms, faculty offices, faculty lounges, workrooms, computer server rooms, a 100-seat screening room, and a café.

The facility also includes a 33k SF sound stage, maker space for set building and 3D printing, screening room with sound mixing booth, four editing suites, automated dialogue replacement and Foley studio, eSports room, digital intermediate color mixing suite, emerging lab for advanced interactive cyber visualization applications, and incubator for student-run companies.

A grand welcoming lobby/entry area with digital signage opens directly to the covered outdoor space, where an LED wall facing a grass-seating amphitheater accommodates 250 people.

After starting with only 13 students in 2014, ACM is UH West O’ahu’s quickest-growing program. The new facility allows the program to expand from approximately 135 majors to an anticipated 500.
