Tree of Life Synagogue Redesign

After the tragedy that took place at this site in October 2018, the Tree of Life Synagogue chose to transform their existing facility into a reimagined “site of hope” that will honor victims, bring peace to congregations, and promote a new mission as a national center for fighting antisemitism. The new space will serve multiple programs for both the congregation and community and will include technology-rich spaces in support of its reimagined mission.

The Sanctuary will be a multifunctional space suitable for a variety of events. In addition to hosting weekly worship services, the space may also be used for guest speakers, lectures, seminars, panel discussions, musical performances, and receptions. A video projector / projection screen allows for all event types to be accommodated, including “overflow” for events occurring elsewhere within the facility.

A tiered Screening Room with approximately 125 seats offers a digital cinema experience capable of showcasing first-run films. To do so, the audiovisual system must accommodate encrypted digital cinema data streams via a Digital Cinema Package. In addition to film-viewing, the space will also be capable of hosting a variety of events such as presentations, guest speakers, seminars, panel discussions, etc.

Similar to the Sanctuary and Screening Room, the Social Hall will be a multipurpose space that will support banquets, weddings, mitzvahs, receptions, large meetings, worship services and more. It will feature a large-venue projection system and distributed audio system.

The complex will also include classrooms with mobile furniture and fixed audiovisual systems that support instruction, presentation, seminars, and group meetings. Each will feature an ultra-large format flat panel display, cameras, microphones, and loudspeakers.
