Originally opening in 1959 as Latonia Race Track, this site has been part of the racing and gaming industry ever since. The Latonia Race Track was popular throughout the 1980’s and 1990’s. In 2019, Churchill Downs Inc. purchased the property with the intent of transforming it into the Turfway Park HRM facility.
The gaming area holds over 800 historical horse racing machines, a separate gaming area designated for smoking, and the largest simulcast suite in the state of Kentucky. Turfway Park has an outdoor track and plans to conduct live horse races during the winter months.
Additional spaces of the facility include a new clubhouse, two restaurants, a VIP lounge, a stage, and an 18,500 SF event center. The event center hosts various types of entertainment, ranging from industry nights to concerts.
