American Public Works Association Recognizes NV5 Projects

Arapahoe County’s Public Works Department has been recognized by the Colorado chapter of the American Public Works Association for the Sheriff’s Office Substation, Storage Building and Training Track, and the East Jewell Avenue Widening and Reconstruction Projects.

The Sheriff’s Office Substation, Storage Building and Training Track project provided a permanent 5,000-square-foot substation and vehicle storage to serve citizens in eastern Arapahoe County. A three-quarter mile asphalt training track also was constructed to provide needed driver training space. The project was completed in 2012, on schedule and under budget.

NV5 teamed with Pahl Architecture to provide the design and construction documents of the water line design, training track, and access gate modifications for the project located within the Arapahoe County Fairgrounds and Regional Park area. The project involved extensive coordination with SEMSWA, the Cunningham Fire Protection District and County Fairgrounds Personnel.

The East Jewell Avenue Widening and Reconstruction project consisted of widening approximately 1,200 feet of roadway to improve access, drainage and widen curbs, gutters, sidewalks and bike lanes, providing improved traffic flow and mobility for motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians.

NV5 prepared Phase II and III drainage reports, GESC Plans Report, and an Operations and Maintenance Manual. The project also included inlet/storm sewer design, street capacity analysis, detention pond/water quality facility design and improvements within the Parker Road right of way.

“These awards are a testament of our commitment to continuously provide the best service to our clients” said Rick Rome, NV5’s project manager. “we are honored to have collaborated with Arapahoe County Public Works Department and Pahl Architecture and we look forward to continue delivering innovative and cost effective engineering solutions” he concluded.
