NV5 On Top of the World In San Diego

On July 31, 2019, NV5’s Deputy Chief Building Official and onsite inspector, Bruce Boyer, and Senior Vice President for Energy and Chief Building Official, Kevin Wedman participated in the “structural steel topping out ceremony” in which the final piece of structural steel was placed on the 17 story General Administration Facility (GAF). This is an exciting milestone for the project as it nears 50% completion. This age-old tradition gives the construction teams and project stakeholders an opportunity to celebrate their progress and success.

“We are excited to be part of this project and look forward to delivering a successful, safe, and code compliant administration building for the Navy to use for many years,” said Bruce Boyer, Deputy Chief Building Official.

About the Project

The Manchester Pacific Gateway Navy GAF Building is a state-of-the-art 17 story, 372,000 square foot headquarters building situated in San Diego along the downtown waterfront. This structure is anticipated to cost $165 million and be completed in October 2020. The project is considered a public-private partnership (P3) and is financed by Manchester Financial Group.

NV5 is performing plan review for deferred submittals, onsite inspection, and Delegate Chief Building Official duties.
