The City of Escondido has retained NV5 to provide roadway design, bridge engineering, traffic engineering, landscape architecture, environmental support and surveying services for the East Valley Parkway widening project. One of the biggest challenges of the project is widening the bridge over Escondido Creek, and retrofitting it to meet current earthquake standards. The long-awaited project will widen a half-mile stretch of East Valley Parkway from Beven Drive to Lake Wohlford Road, alleviating one of North County’s most notorious bottlenecks.
Ed Domingue, Escondido’s public works director, said he expects Nolte to complete design work by the end of the year, and that construction of the road widening should be complete by early 2015.
“We are looking forward to working closely with the City of Escondido on a project that will positively impact commuters and alleviate congestion in the Escondido area” said Phil Kern, NV5’s engineering manager “we continuously strive on providing the right solutions to complex projects” he concluded.
