Quantum Spatial Serves as Bronze Sponsor of LASzip

Quantum Spatial is pleased to announce that the company will serve as a bronze sponsor to LASzip in LiDAR. As a sponsor, we will contribute to extending LASzip DLL to support direct compression of LAS 1.4 data using the new LAS 1.4 compatibility mode. This feature will enable LASzip DLL users to read and write LAZ 1.4 files with immediacy and superior accuracy.

LASzip is a free open-source product that converts LAS files into compact LAZ files, reducing storage and bandwidth requirements as much as 83% without data loss. It has become the de-facto standard for compressed point clouds in the LiDAR industry, and it has also been a recipient of the 2012 Geospatial World Forum Technology Innovation Award. It is with great enthusiasm that we are able to assist in advancing the LiDAR industry.

Due to our sponsorship, Quantum Spatial elevates as one of the leading geospatial organizations in cutting edge LiDAR technology along with gold sponsors, NOAA and USACE, as well as fellow bronze sponsor, Trimble Geospatial.

If you are part of an organization who would like to support this campaign, you may also promote development of new LAStools and LASzip features as a golden, bronze, or silver member. For more information, visit http://rapidlasso.com/
