NV5’s Zoning Division has now gone fully remote, and two years in, we’ve got it down to a science. In addition to our main office, much of our staff is now based in home offices across the country and our zoning analysts and researchers are busier than ever.
As we’ve adjusted to this new business model, many municipalities have also either continued remote processing or have developed more technologically advanced methods to fulfill information requests for a trouble-free zoning process. This might include electronic application forms and payment as well as increased availability of online documents, a definite plus. Our long history with so many municipalities has allowed us to compare and share experiences and best practices which has allowed for true industry advancement.
Though we still see delays in some markets due to increased demand, these delays are decreasing and we will likely return to an average 3-4 week delivery time in the coming months. However, it always pays to plan ahead. While we may be able to submit a timely draft report, some locations do take weeks or even months to fully process requests for zoning letters and documents, so don’t delay in ordering zoning reports for your project.
