Optimal Energy is committed to reducing the environmental impact of our own business operations. To encourage use of alternative fuel vehicles, we installed an electric vehicle charging station, allowing two employees to switch to all-electric vehicles. Several other commuters drive to work in hybrid cars and employees can also choose to work from home.
Since our founding in 1996, Optimal Energy has been at the forefront of some of the nation’s leading energy efficiency efforts.
In the late 1990’s, Optimal Energy was intimately involved with the creation of Efficiency Vermont, the nation’s first efficiency utility. Optimal Energy was also a key resource for the state of Massachusetts in their early collaborative approach to developing industry-leading utility-administered programs. We continue to serve this role today, leading a team of consultants that guides a legislatively-empaneled council that oversees one of the most advanced efficiency efforts in the country. In 2012, Optimal Energy opened a second office location in Providence, Rhode Island.
NV5 delivers industry-leading guidance to help our clients design and achieve clean energy goals. Our solutions reduce carbon emissions by addressing outdated and unsustainable patterns of energy production and consumption.
Optimal Energy provides guidance and support on policy and regulatory strategy to a variety of public, not-for-profit, and private organizations. We offer a range of strategic guidance and expert advice, supported by research and technical modeling, on utility regulatory and energy-related policy issues.
Optimal Energy works with clients to look beyond business-as-usual in energy efficiency and energy optimization program development. Ever-changing energy efficiency goals, new technologies, and an evolving energy system demand new ways of thinking and innovative program delivery models. We help clients design programs that will meet their future goals and that are realistic and effective.
Optimal Energy provides technical and economic assessments of the potential for demand-side resources and distributed renewable energy generation to quantify cost-effective energy efficiency resources and opportunities for savings.
Optimal Energy has developed savings algorithms and calculation methodologies for thousands of measures and dozens of clients. Our methodologies result in high levels of accuracy and excellent realization rates for our clients. These translate into superior evaluation, measurement, and verification (EM&V) services. From the simplest prescriptive measures to the most complex custom project types, our team develops defensible, documented savings calculations. We leverage our expertise by offering clients direct support for project savings claims, and as part of independent evaluation efforts.
Optimal Energy’s consultants are often called upon to serve as subject matter experts before regulatory commissions and governmental agencies. This includes providing both informal guidance and written or oral testimony to commissioners, hearing officers, and their staff.
