In response to record growth rates, the Roseville Water Treatment Plant needed to expand from 60- to 100-million gallons per day (mgd) before demand exceeded supply.
By employing sustainability measures and being sensitive to the surrounding residential community, the construction team nearly doubled the plant capacity while reducing natural resource consumption, saving time, reducing material costs, and earning neighborhood praise. All improvements were accomplished with no interruption of service to the over 100,000 residents who rely on this plant for safe drinking water.
The project received a 2009 Project Achievement Award from the Construction Management Association of America (CMAA) Northern California Chapter, as well as a 2008 Project of the Year Award from the American Public Works Association (APWA) Sacramento Chapter.
