NV5 was engaged by East Grand School District (EGSD) to assist with verification that
the school district complied with current ventilation codes and identify low cost, quick
turnaround measures to bring EGSD to compliance. With the impact COVID-19 has had on
various school districts, EGSD was interested in ensuring a safer working environment for
staff and learning environment for students.
NV5 initially performed a ventilation health check study to verify whether the school was in
compliance with code, then provided recommendations for improvement. After a toggling
session with the School District, NV5 was engaged to retro-commission the airside systems
with assistance from the mechanical contractor and controls vendor.
NV5 helped EGSD secure $160,000 through a Safe Schools Reopening grant which covered
the cost of the study, in addition to cleaning all internal building ductwork. EGSD is now in
discussions with NV5 to secure and utilize State and Federal funding to implement capital
improvement programs to bring the School District further into compliance and improve the building resiliency and ability to maintain a healthy environment.
