In consultation with the New Jersey Historic Preservation Office, NV5’s Cultural Resource Unit conducted a Phase I/II archaeological survey during development of a 350-acre golf course in order to assist the client in meeting conditions attached to a Freshwater Wetlands Statewide General Permit. Three 19th-century farmstead sites were investigated through test excavations, and an area of sensitivity for prehistoric archaeology was delineated. A Preservation Easement was prepared, including precise mapping of the farmstead sites and sensitivity areas. An exhibit about the archaeology of the Neshanic Valley Golf Course was prepared for onsite display.
