The New Pearl Innovation District will be the home for Atrium Health, IRCAD North America, many Wake Forest University programs, and much more. This $1.5 billion dollar investment within Charlotte will act as a central hub to the community where students, entrepreneurs, medical specialists and more can collaborate.
One of the buildings within this area is the 358K SF Howard R. Levine Center for Education. This facility shares spaces with Atrium Health, Wake Forest University School of Medicine, Wake Forest University School of Business, Wake Forest School of Business for Professional Studies Program, and Carolinas College of Health Sciences. Features multiple floors of classroom space, a large 250-seat auditorium, LED video walls throughout the building, control rooms with recording and capture abilities, office spaces, and a 125-seat divisible classroom. The facility also includes many lab spaces, a plastinated anatomy lab, virtual anatomy lab, and medical simulation areas featuring standardized patient examination spaces.
Adjacent to the Center for Education, the 335K SF IRCAD North America headquarters within the Research One building will be a surgical training center that fosters research, learning, and innovation. This research building features surgical ballrooms, and surgical artificial intelligence and simulation training. Includes a robotics suite and spaces to develop and utilize virtual and augmented reality. A large Auditorium with LED video wall and video capture will anchor presentation and lecture for the learners.
The Pearl will be a mixed-use development featuring academics, medical research and development, and entrepreneurial activity that will be a beacon of the community of Charlotte.
